The map is open early, before the public launch. Everything works except the music: nothing plays until the licence lands.
For punters
Find music by where you are, not by who has the biggest following.
No more trawling Instagram stories and six venue websites to work out what is on. Filter by genre, pick a night, and listen before you commit to the trip. It is free, and you do not need an account to look around.
Filter it down to the night you are actually free.
Tonight, this weekend, this week, next week. Turn on the genre you are in the mood for and the map answers straight away.
- Every pin is a real gig at a real room
- Genres you can switch on and off, one tap each
- Melbourne plus Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and Gippsland
Twenty seconds to decide. Then the whole song.
Tap a gig and you get the full bill, who is on when, and a twenty second taste of each act, enough to know whether you are going. Louder Radio, when it arrives, stops it being a taste: it plays the tracks in full, back to back, and every act it plays is on somewhere near you this week. The radio switching on is what opens the platform.
- The whole line-up, not just the headliner
- Set times where the venue has published them
- Twenty seconds on a card, so you can skim a bill fast
- Full tracks on the radio, with the band choosing what represents them
- Set the mix by genre and let it run
For bands
Your page is already there. Come and take it.
Louder builds pages from what venues publish, so most acts playing this month already have one. Claiming it makes it yours: your photo, your music, your story. It is free to claim, free to be listed and free to be played, and we take no cut of your door, your tickets or your merch.
Claim it, then run it.
Upload full tracks and drag a scrubber to pick the exact twenty seconds that plays on your card. No waiting to be discovered by an algorithm, and nothing to pay.
And you get paid for the plays. Louder Radio will run under an APRA AMCOS licence, the same way any station that plays your song does, so a play here earns the songwriter a royalty. Nobody is being asked to hand their music over for exposure.
Which is also why nothing plays yet. You can claim your page, upload your tracks and set your twenty seconds now, and it all sits there ready and silent. The day the licence lands, the previews and the radio come on together, and the acts who got set up early are the ones already playing.
- Upload your own tracks and choose the clip that represents you
- Plays will be licensed through APRA AMCOS, so the writing earns from them
- You tell us what you actually own, and we only play what you can give us
- Ask to be added to a bill, and the venue confirms it
- Nothing we read anywhere else can overwrite what you have written yourself
- No act has two pages: duplicates are merged into the one you claim
For venues
Your room, your bill, your listing.
There is nothing for you to do. We already read your website every morning, so your gigs are on the map whether you ever talk to us or not, and we are not asking you to post anything or keep another calendar up to date. Claiming the venue is not a job, it is a set of keys: it means you can overrule us when you want to. Free, and no commission on anything.
Only if you want to.
A website cannot always say everything, so when the listing is thin or we have read it wrong, you can put it right yourself and it sticks. What you write is treated as the truth and the nightly read is not allowed to overwrite it.
- Your line-ups and set times, edited directly, in about a minute
- Name an act with no page yet and we make one, left unclaimed for them
- Your description, rooms, capacity, accessibility and socials
- Anything you enter beats anything we found ourselves, permanently
- Ignore all of it and your gigs still show up
Nobody picks up your room but you.
Claim from an email on your venue's own domain and you are in straight away, no waiting. Claim from a Gmail or anything we cannot match to you, and we hold it and contact the venue to check before we hand over the keys.
That second step is slower on purpose. Your listing is your room's name in public, and it is worth the extra day to be certain the person editing it actually works there.
Membership Coming
Louder is free. Membership is for giving something back, not for using it.
Nothing on this page costs a punter, a band or a venue anything, and that is not an introductory offer. Membership is the opposite of a paywall: five dollars a month, eighty cents in every dollar of which goes into a benevolence fund that is handed, in full and once a year, straight to a local venue or act that needs it.
01
Most of it leaves us
Eighty cents in the dollar goes straight into the benevolence fund. We keep twenty to pay the people building this, and we say so out loud.
02
Members pick who gets it
A room struggling to keep its doors open, or an act who needs a hand. Members put them forward and members vote. Every twelve months it goes to the winner in one go, and you get told exactly what it came to.
03
It makes you part of it
No ad removal, no unlocked features, no better placement on the map. Membership is how you join the movement that directly backs local live music and the rooms that keep putting it on.
Advertising pays to keep Louder running, so membership never has to. That is the only reason the split can point this way round.
You will not need to ask us.
When the map opens you claim your own band or your own room yourself, in a couple of minutes, without going through us. There is no list to get on and no queue to join, because your page is already built and waiting for you to take it.
So this address is for the things a form cannot handle: partnerships, press, something we have got badly wrong, or a question you cannot find the answer to.
